ABOUT
Lauren Pomeroy is an emerging artist, honors student, and dual-degree candidate at Coastal Carolina University. She is actively pursuing her BFA in Studio Art and BA in Art History, working towards her anticipated graduation in May 2026. Pomeroy works intensively with the medium of oil paint, striving to create large and small creative portrait and representational artworks. Her pieces display themes of childhood, nostalgia, and elements of her past through memory. Her identity is greatly intertwined with where she grew up, born and raised in the small but unique state of Rhode Island. She graduated from The Prout School in 2022, after which she enrolled in Coastal Carolina University where she continues her studies.
Pomeroy has exhibited artwork at numerous competitions and exhibitions. Her artwork has been featured at the Rhode Island Congressional Art Competition of 2022. She has also been presented with multiple accomplishments at the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards and was the recipient of the highest honor at the Ocean View Art Competition & Exhibition at the University of Rhode Island in 2022. In recent years Pomeroy has exhibited work at the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery within the Third Juried Student Exhibition, Fourth Juried Student Exhibition, and Fifth Juried Student Exhibition. She also displayed multiple pieces at the rotating Cube Galleries at Coastal Carolina University and within the city of Conway.
Hard work, ambition, and commitment drive Pomeroy’s artistic processes and challenge her to step outside of her comfort zone throughout the making process. Primarily an artist that operates within the medium of oil painting, Pomeroy has also experimented with watercolor, graphite, and photographic mediums. She continues to expand her practice through her ongoing artistic and scholarly research, experimentation, and exhibition opportunities.
